Hello everyone & welcome to the brand new website of the 1st Hexham Scout Group.
We hope you will enjoy browsing our site.
The 1st Hexham Scout Group is an extremely active group & has been supporting young people in the town since 1928.
We offer a wide range of fun & constructive activities, built within the structure of the Scout Association.
The 1st Hexham Scout Group is based in the market town of Hexham,20 miles West of the City of Newcastle Upon Tyne.We are part of the Scout District of Hadrian, the largest rural District in the Country. Situated at Maidens walk in the town, our Group offers fun, exciting and challenging activities for young people from Six years to 18 years. We have Four sections within the group. Beaver scouts 6-8 years, Cub Scouts 8-10 years, Scouts 10-14 years and the 1st Hexham Explorer unit which has a partnership agreement with our group for 14-18 years of age.
Opened in 2002, our headquarters the Lookwide Centre, built at a cost of nearly a quarter of a million pounds, provides a fantastic base for scouting and helps us to build on the excellent reputation we have in the town for providing fun and adventure for young people.
The lookwide Centre is also available for Scout Groups to hire as a floor for the night complete with a fully fitted kitchen, toilets, showers, leaders room and a small bunkroom. Ideal as a venue for exploring rural Northumberland, including the mighty Hadrians wall, a world heritage site and right on our doorstep.
For information on the lookwide Centre & how your group or organisation can hire
